The pieces in this book correlate page by page with the materials in Lesson 1A. They should be assigned according to the instructions in the upper right corner of selected pages of this book. They also may be assigned as review material at any time after the student has passed the designated lesson book page. A variety of styles is featured, including ragtime, blues, boogie, and jazz. Each piece has a duet accompaniment that adds harmonic interest and rhythmic stability. It can be played by the teacher or parent. Students love to play jazz! They will enjoy performing these pieces for family and friends in an informal setting or on a recital.
