Elementary/Late Elementary by Christopher Goldston
This series will allow students from all backgrounds and methods to benefit from playing interesting pieces that emphasize intervallic reading. Students are encouraged to learn to read intervals and patterns in music, instead of reading note by note, and this is one of the foundational skills necessary for students to be good readers. All of the pieces in this series are impressive-sounding!
Following the format set forth in Book 1, On Stage! Book 2 progresses from the elementary to late elementary level by applying new and more advanced intervallic reading techniques. Some of the concepts include blocking (playing together) intervals, identifying intervals including the octave, identifying whole tone scales, melodic and harmonic intervals, half and whole steps, triads, and much more.
