This book is designed to follow logically "The Piano Student", Level IV, and continues to present the fundamentals of music through the use of attractive pieces and etudes. Much attention has been given to the grade level of the music used. At this level of study there are many music "drop-outs". I feel the main reason for this is that the materials used are too difficult and uninteresting to the student. The experienced teacher has discovered that there are certain teaching pieces that seem to possess a "magic formula" which holds the interest of the student. Some of these ever popular pieces are included in this book, and for most students of today they are new and exciting experiences. Some are: Ballade by Burgmueller and The Spinning Song by Ellmenreich.
