This workbook presents basic music theory for age 6 through adult. Emphasis is placed on two basic note reading concepts:
1.) Correlation of up and down at the keyboard and up and down movement of notes in the staff.
2.) Simple interval reading and recognition in the staff and at the keyboard.
The musical alphabet is used as a basis for note reading because it is easily recognized even by a young child. Line/space numbers and slogans are purposely avoided as a note reading crutch.
These workbook pages are intended primarily as homework. The concepts are easily grasped and the book progresses gradually, needing only minimal help from the teacher. Workbook pages should be checked and corrected before the "keyboard assignment" is started. Daily keyboard practice of these workbook pages is essential to reinforce the learning process. The back inside cover of this book has blank staff lines for extra written assignments.
