This Theory and Activity Book will help develop musicianship. The writing, playing, rhythm, and composing activities lead the student along the path of musical discovery. Ear training activities, which include playing by ear, allow children to complete an engaging and well-rounded piano curriculum.
Throughout the book, students engage in Writing and Playing activities, reinforcing all the concepts learned in the Lesson and Technique Book such as notes, intervals, basic rhythms, and musical terms and symbols
Rhythm activities guide students to internalize rhythms and understand them easily.
Time to Compose activities encourage students to create their own pieces, based on concepts learned.
Ear Training activities assist students in recognizing rhythm and note patterns.
Other aspects of Ear Training include:
"Follow the Leader" - Students listen to rhythms and clap/tap them back.
"Parrot Play" = Students listen to short melodic patterns or well-known songs and play them back. This is the first step in learning how to play by ear.
When using this method, students will be "Succeeding at the Piano!"
