The Recital Books congratulate students for a job well done by providing correlated repertoire to their Lesson Books that are based on concepts they've already learned. As a result, the pieces are quickly mastered. Included are traditional favorites such as "The Marines' Hymn" and "Down in the Valley," and originals "A Country Song" and "The Gypsy Baron."
Recital Book 3 of Alfred's Basic Piano Library may be used throughout Lesson Book 3, beginning with the very first piece.
The use of this Recital Book will provide material for review and reinforcement of each new concept or principle introduced in the Lesson Book. Because the pieces in this book are interesting and entertaining as well as instructive, their use will add considerably to the student's enjoyment. As the name of the book implies, the pieces are particularly appropriate for use in public performance.
When this book is used in conjunction with Lesson Book 3 and Theory Book 3, there will be no doubt that every new item introduced at this level will have more than adequate drill and review.
Like all supplementary materials in this course, this Recital Book is coordinated page by page with the Lesson Book. The instructions in the upper right corner of the first page of each piece indicate precisely when each piece should be assigned. Under no circumstances should a piece be used sooner than these references indicate, so as to avoid the student's encountering ideas or concepts that have not yet been introduced in the lesson material. However, any piece may be assigned at any time AFTER the student has passed the designated pages.
