The Bösendorfer Secession exists at an intersection that almost never happens: a concert-grade piano of the highest acoustic order, and a numbered work of art connected to one of the defining movements in Western design history. Built on the 214VC Vienna Concert platform, it draws from Bösendorfer's Resonance Case Principle, in which the entire spruce body participates in sound formation rather than the soundboard alone. The result is a voice of extraordinary depth and complexity, responsive from the quietest pianissimo to full orchestral weight.
What sets the Secession apart visually is the hand-applied 23-carat gold laurel leaf canopy on the lid interior, replicating the dome of Vienna's iconic Secession building. The cast iron frame carries matching gold plating. The music stand is individually engraved letter by letter with the Secession motto "Ver Sacrum" (Holy Spring) and gilded by hand. Architectural ornamentation drawn from the Secession facade decorates the legs. Every surface is a deliberate artistic statement, individually numbered and documented as part of an edition of 21.
This instrument is arriving soon at Piano Gallery in Idaho Falls. It may be the only opportunity to see and play one in the American West.
