Although it is not widely known outside of professional circles, Yamaha has been crafting custom mouthpieces for hundreds of the world's leading players at their R&D Ateliers for many years. These musicians sought Yamaha's expertise because they were dissatisfied with existing commercial models. They trusted that Yamaha possessed the necessary skills to create their ideal mouthpiece. Drawing from their extensive experience, these players had a clear vision of the sound and response they desired, while Yamaha's technicians, with their profound knowledge in instrument crafting, were equipped to fulfill those requirements. As more colleagues and students of these elite musicians expressed interest in obtaining replicas of the mouthpieces, it was decided to introduce a select range within a new Signature Series. This initiative allows others to benefit from the fruitful collaboration between artist and craftsman.
