In 2006 Bösendorfer invited the design world to reimagine the grand piano, and the Edge won. Where most piano design leans on curves and ornamentation, the Edge goes the other direction entirely: clear lines, rectilinear legs that reference the grand piano's origin as a table instrument, a fabric-covered music desk, and a slick lyre that disappears into the silhouette. Nothing is decorative. Everything is intentional. The result is a Bösendorfer that reads as contemporary furniture as much as musical instrument, and does so without apology.
