Bösendorfer Ultimate Design Strauss — Available to Order
Every year at the Vienna Opera Ball, the orchestra opens with a Strauss waltz. It has been this way for generations, and it will continue to be. Johann Strauss II composed The Blue Danube in 1867 and it became Austria's unofficial national anthem. He met Ludwig Bösendorfer in 1890 at a carnival celebration hosted by the city mayor, and the two became friends — sharing, among other things, a fondness for playing Tarock cards. Strauss owned a Bösendorfer grand, and it is still on display at the Johann Strauss museum in Vienna today.
The Strauss grand is modeled after that instrument. The fanciful music desk design, round legs, and Austrian coat of arms recall the elegance and good humor of Strauss's noble Vienna. The interior rim and lid are finished in black polished Maple veneer, providing a visual contrast that suits the instrument's character: formal on the outside, celebratory within. It is available across the full model range from the 170VC through the 290 Imperial.
